The debate video is now up of the debate held at Oxford comparing the claims of Islam and the claims of Atheism, and assessing which better explains reality.
The debate was hosted by Oxford Forum at Oxford University on 6th May 2019. The topic debated was “Does Islam explain reality better than Atheism?” and the arguments made were powerful, passionate and intense. Al-hamdulillah, the truth of Islam was demonstrated to be not only the best explanation of reality but the only explanation of reality that makes sense with what we can observe. On the other side, the Atheist’s denial of God meant that they couldn’t provide an ultimate explanation of reality without falling into self-contradictions.
The speakers were Mohammed Hijab (S.A.L.A.M Initiative), Abdullah al Andalusi (Muslim Debate Initiative) debating against Atheist speakers, Alex O’Connor, an international speaker and popular YouTuber “Cosmic Skeptic”, and writer for the New Humanist Journal, and Psychiatrist, Dr Colin Brewer.

this was incredible. I wasn’t going to watch it cos of exams but after watching some of the shorter clips from Mohammed Hijab’s channel I just had to and it didn’t disappoint. Alex was finally confronted with his moral claims after so long. I found it so strange that he would say something is immoral a few minutes after saying that he believes in subjective morality. the logic was so dodgy I had to rewatch his video just to make sure he said what he did. XD

Abdallah may Allah grant you much reward. I love Mohammad Hijab but I pray he changes his style and adopts a style similar to yours. You can’t bully people into a belief (a lesson to myself first). I pray you advise him and better develop yourselves because I believe you are both amazing.
Finally, I will say this. Alex O’Connor seems to be very sincere (Allah knows best). I pray you continue one on one discussion with him and inshallah Allah will guide him to Islam. He would be an awesome addition to your debate team.
