I and renown Darwinism critic and da’ee, Subboor Ahmad discuss the four arguments for the necessity of God’s existence to explain the universe, that I made against popular Atheist YouTuber Alex J. O’Connor (aka CosmicSkeptic) during an “Islam vs Atheism” debate at Oxford University on 6th May 2019. The topic debated was “Does Islam explain reality better than Atheism?”.
Br Subboor interviews me and discusses his views on the main argument of my position, namely the four arguments I made for God’s existence that were not addressed or responded to by the opposing Atheist side.
The arguments I made were:
The truth of the Islamic conception of Tawheed, an absolute and pure monotheism was demonstrated to be not only the best explanation of reality but the only explanation of reality that makes sense with what we can observe.
On the other side, the Atheist’s denial of God meant that they couldn’t provide an ultimate explanation of reality without falling into self-contradictions.
The Islamic concept of God was argued by myself during the debate, as not simply another theist position, but rather a unique one – specifically, the Islamic insistence of separating the infinite and the finite, and denying all human attempts to give the infinite God, limited or finite attributes, like human or animal faces, shapes, bodies, tiredness, limited knowledge, or exhaustible power.
The Islamic call to worshipping only the Infinite, indivisible and fundamental, One who created all things, is the only call that makes sense and contains no self-contradictions.
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction” [Quran 4:82]
