Does Culture oppose Islam? Or is the word “Culture” itself, suspect?
In the video of an event at Toronto University (Mississauga), I spoke about the mental split in the Muslim psyche between Culture on one end, and “religion” (Islam) on the other. Muslims, both in the West, and in the Muslim world, are riven with confusion and conflict between what the Quran and Sunnah say, and the practices, habits – and beliefs of their societies. I not only criticised the many cultural practices and beliefs that clash with Islam but also exposing the false dichotomy of “culture” and “religion”, showing that the very separation of the two into two categories, is actually a product of modern secularism and secular thinking.
The event was held Tuesday 29th January 2019, University of Toronto, Mississauga.
