BIG Debate: “Is antizionism antisemitism?” (University of Manchester, 31st Oct 2024)

[Free Registration required to attend – click here for link]

The Zionist project to establish a state in Palestine for Jews has faced criticism for causing mass displacement, suffering, and great loss of life. In response, Zionists have labeled critics as racists and antisemites, and sought to suppress Palestinian activism and anti-Zionism under the guise of combating racism. This has made the fight for Palestinian rights not just about changing public opinion, but also about safeguarding the right to express dissent without fear of censorship or prosecution.

Many students around the world engaging in protests on university campuses, have faced restrictions, expulsion threats, and even violent dispersal by law enforcement. Many universities are unwilling to hear out or understand the crucial arguments being made by activists.

However, the University of Manchester, in order to help clarify this topic, are hosting a crucial debate on October 31, 2024, at 7 pm. This debate is open to the public and aims to weigh the arguments for Zionism and Palestinian rights, allowing attendees to decide whether anti-Zionism equates to antisemitism. Your attendance, questions, and participation in this debate are crucial in supporting the right to advocate for Palestinian rights and the freedom to engage in open and meaningful dialogue.
