I’ve been invited by SOAS (School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London) University Islamic Society to give a lecture TODAY at 6pm on ‘Debunking the myth: Islam and Terrorism’.

The lecture will see me discussing the usual tropes against Islam (and Muslims), namely that there is some claimed causal connection between Islam and Terrorism, whether it is a claimed interpretation of Islam, sect or unreformed “version”. I’ll examine how such narratives play not just into Islamophobia, but also to justify Western government domestic and international policies.

‘Debunking the myth: Islam and Terrorism’ will be on Wednesday 20th of February! This talk aims to tackle the negative stereotypes of Islam and terrorism and clear up any misconceptions.
