For my third event in Toronto, Canada, I will be speaking at the University of Toronto (Mississauga), to present the topic “Culture vs Islam”, looking at the mental split in the Muslim psyche between Culture on one end, and “religion” (Islam) on the other. Muslims, both in the West, and in the Muslim world, are riven with confusion and conflict between what the Quran and Sunnah say, and the practices, habits – and beliefs of their societies. I’ll not just be criticising the many cultural practices and beliefs that clash with Islam but also exposing the false dichotomy of “culture” and “religion”, showing that the very separation of the two into two categories, is actually a product of modern secularism and secular thinking.
The event begins at 3.30pm, Tuesday 29th January 2019, University of Toronto, Mississauga.
