Event: “WHY ISLAM DOESN’T NEED REFORMATION” [UCL, 11th Feb 2016]

Yesterday I was invited to speak at the UCL, University of London, to present and discuss the topic “Does Islam Need a Reformation?”. I made rational, historical, sociological, anthropological and political arguments against the most common excuses demanding a Secular Reformation of Islam, touted by Western governments, Atheists like Sam Harris and Ayan Hersi Ali, and other Secular Liberal missionaries (called ‘Reformists’ or modernists).

The event also discussed the ideology that Modernists want Islam to bend the knee to: Secular Liberalism. Liberalism was discussed in creed, development and practical implementation, and found substantially lacking consistency, accuracy (about Humans) and devoid of connection to Western superior technological and economic development (China was used as a counter-example).

The event then opened to the audience for questions, and I (as always) invited anyone with any contentions to challenge any points there disagreed with. There was some interesting and amicable back and forth, and members of the Atheist, Humanist and Secularist student society were welcomed and participated.

I’d like to thank the University College London (UCL) Islamic Society, RUMS Islamic Society and UCL Student Union for inviting me again this year.

The lecture took place in central London on Thursday 11th February 2016 at 6pm-8pm, at the UCL (University College London), XLG2 Auditorium, Christopher Ingold Building, 20 GORDON STREET, LONDON, WC1H 0AJ]. Further details can be found here.

The video will be published Insha’Allah, after the 26th February 2016.
